Hi guys! I want to help horses, and make a little moolah! SO I thought, what can I do? Ok well my dad knows people who live in Northwestern Kentucky who have a horse rescue. I know it must be a lot of work to run that place, but certainly EXPENSIVE! So I came up with this idea; I start an online business selling recycled fabric tote bags. The fabric is recycled because if you get from the goodwill you can find cool patterns and you are reusing stuff. I also want to sell scarves, and homemade jewelry too. What do you think?

Hey girls!

Spring clothes are coming out, the newest iPods have just been released, there's a ton of movies that your friends are inviting you to go see, and you want to do it all! Problem is, this stuff all costs money, which you don't have. I've been in this situation before, my parents have the money, and I even have the money, but it's in a savings account which I promised myself I wouldn't touch until I really needed it, and to me, a two hour movie doesn't count as "really needing it".

So what do you do? You don't want to look out of style in last years clothes, you have nothing to jam to since your last iPod is broken, and you don't want to look like a social leper and skip the movie! Cheer up! There's a bunch of things you can do to save yourself some money, and still be in style, listen to your tunes, and hang out with your besties!

It's all about budgeting your money to do the stuff you want with the money you have! Let's say I had $100 . . . It's still plenty to buy some new spring clothes, especially if you go to a thrift or vintage store which have some great styles and great deals, buy an older generation of an iPod on eBay or Kijiji, and go see a movie in the discount movie theatre! There's plenty of good deals out there, you just have to be a good old fashioned recessionista and spot them!

Right now, you're probably saying "Well, I don't even have $100!" Not a problem girls, not a problem. All you have to do is earn it! Maybe you're too young for babysitting or to get a real job, but odd jobs rake in some pretty good money, and you can do them at any age! Depending on what your weather conditions are, you can offer to shovel a neighbours snow, rake their lawn, mow the grass, clean part of a house, or even be a mother's helper, which is like babysitting, but one of the parents is at home, and they want you to watch their kids while they're busy. Just remember to always ask your parents for permission, and only offer your services to neighbours that you know are safe and trustworthy!

You can have it all, it just might not be the full price, everything my friends have kind of way. Another way to make sure you have the money you need for the stuff you want is to divide whatever you earn into three sections. Put 50% of it in a jar marked "To Spend Right Now" for stuff like movies, 25% in a jar marked "To Spend Later" for stuff like an iPod, when you save up enough money, and the last 25% in a jar marked "Savings" which you don't touch and use a long time from now! With these tips in hand, I'm positive you'll be better spenders, and still have a great time. Good luck!

Ali

I went to Wal-Mart to buy NCIS Season 6 DVD boz set, 9shown in picture), and I had $50. Well, when the lady at the check out says, "Your total is $48.11, I almost choked! I almost puked! I was like, "Why is it so expensive?" The only thing I bought was that set of DVDs I think there are 6 DVDs. Since season 6 is the last season on DVD, (becuase well, they're in the middle of season 7 now), it happens to be the most expensive. Seasons 1 & 2 are only $29.96. Geez! Things are sp expensive! If everything in the world were free! Everything and we all got along, this world would be a much nicer, and better place. Oh, and if every one went green and stopped pollution. If everyone did the right thing it would be a perfect Earth. But, it's not for now, and I doubt it will ever be.

I bet you're wondering what the heck that is.. or maybe you're not. Well I just had a guest speaker come to our class 2 days ago, she talked about the Pangea network. It's a network that helps women in developing countries to live a better life. For example, they go to counties and teach the women how to make simple yet beautiful bracelets. Bracelets? How's that going to help the women of these developing counties? It helps them with alot of stuff. Not many women get a chance to get an education so they can't open a business of their own. With the knowledge of being able to make bracelets, they can easily open their own small business, also called a micro-enterprise. Their micro enterprise gives the women a chance to live a better life, being able to send their children off to school, & to finally make money and try to get out of poverty. I thought it was pretty neat to me. After her visit to my class, i realized I'm a pretty lucky girl and I'm glad I'm not starving, or living in poverty. I'm glad that I can get an education unlike other kids in other countries. Well just wanted to open your eyes to the situation. You can also sponsor a woman! The pangea network mainly works with women in the continent of Africa! Sponsoring a woman would cost you about $39 dollars a month, not much but it can change someone's life completely.

I thought we could gather any change from the hallways, sidewalks, washer, couches, etc. and put them in a piggy bank at home. Then once it is full, exchange it for dollor bills at a local bank, then either donate it to a charity, or whatever other helpful things that come to mind! Tell me if you have better ideas and tell me if you think it is a good or bad idea, 1-10 Ten being really good, and please, no harsh comments. Thank you!

Hey girls,
OH MY GOSH.
I have something incredible to tell you.
Recently I got a letter in the mail, and it said I was invited to join the People to People Student Ambassador program on a summer trip to AUSTRALIA!
Holy cow. That's, like, a dream come true for me.
And it gets better.
I went to an information meeting today.
They showed us an incredible video about the trip, and the program.
And since I doubt very many of ya'll know about it, let me tell you...
The People to People program was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He believed that if people of different cultures trusted and understood each other, there would be less wars and violence. So he founded the program to get kids of different countries to interact with each other and stuff. People to People takes tons of trips across the world every summer and winter break, and there's People to People in almost every state in the US.
So, now that you know that, scream with me: "OH MY GOSH!!!!!"
I've always been really interested in traveling, cultures, stuff like that. World Cultures is my best subject and I just love learning about the world.
And going to Australia for two weeks this summer, without my parents or siblings, snorkeling in the reef and seeing the Sydney opera house. How much better can it get?
Well, it actually gets worse.
I have to raise $6,000 to be able to go... how in the world am I gonna manage that? I have no idea.
That's why I need your help. I need fund raising ideas and tips very badly. I'm thinking of asking businesses for sponsporships, and I have some money saved up, but not much. I know about all the usual car washes and bake sales... I need unique ideas of how to make money, and FAST.
And, I also have to get accepted. I was invited, which means I'm being considered, but I have to be accepted too. Which means I have to apply, turn in three letters of recommendation, and schedule an interview with one of the People to People workers. It sounds like a lot of work.... Any tips?
I'm also just wondering... has anybody here been a part of People to People trips? It sounds incredible, is it really? What did you do to fund raise?
If you have read this whole thing, I think you are AMAZING and you deserve a taco. :]
Thanks girls!!

Ok, I REALLY want this purse in the picture, a Alabama jersey messenger bag, though I wish it didn't have 00 but an actual number, but anyways I need something to keep my pencils, libary books, maybe lotion, germ x, you know, things like that. And "personal items" lol. because right now im using a small pink wallet, and it's awkward having to go down the hall, get it out of my locker, and then walk all the way up to the bathroom, and then back down the hall again.

Anyways, I have to have surgery on my teeth yet again, because something broke, and my mom just bought me some $100 wallabee shoes, so I can understand why she doesnt want spend money on it. But I HATE purses, but I need one. And I dont want a girly one. I can't find a decent camo one, i dont like the stiff purses.

So I need my own money. I dont have any neighbors I could work for, and I already babysit my sisters (5 and 1 year old)every day just about, and I still dont get payed. So yea, I'm in trouble. I can't sell anything. Overall, I'm in trouble. Any suggestions?

What were the best and worst things of 2009 for you? Me? I am so glad you asked!

Best: My amazingly long obbsession for NCIS that is currently still going. What made me mad though was, that season 6 of NCIS cost $44.26 at Wal-Mart. What happened to "Save Money. Live Better, Wal-Mart." I mean, season 2 was $29.86. I was goinng to buy that one but, it was the season Kate gets shot and i really don't want to see that episode every time i hit "Play all" on the DVDs.

Worst: The economy. Every thing is like really bad. Everything cost more, (EX: The NCIS DVD set season 6), and gas goes from $4.59 to $1.41! Why is that?! But the presidant and everybody I know, is saying 2010 will be different and the Economy is getting better, (Yeah right!)\

So tell me what you best and worst's were for 2009. C'mon I shared with you!

LOL!

Hello people! My lame self is back again!  I have decided to be a mother's helper! It's basically like baby-sitting, except a parent is in the house. I'm really excited, because I'm going to make flyers and give them out to my mom's friends. I love the little kids, but my little brother seems to be the worst! :P Anyways, totaling and estimating how much money I'm going to save each month, it came out to $23 going straight to my wallet, and $46 going into savings (which will hopefully be a bank account soon).  I also figured out what I'm going to buy.....an acoustic guitar from Daisy Rock! They actually cost as much as the new iPod nano, so why listen to music when you can make it yourself! It's the Wildwood Acoustic in Purple Daze. Go check it out. Pretty cool right? So, since I'll have about 50 bucks in savings each month, and the guitar costs about $150(I'm also thinking taxes and shipping), I'll have the guitar in three months! The money for spending I can use for shopping, iTunes, movies, and books. Now, I have some questions for you guys.
What do you use to make money? Do you bead bracelets or bake cookies?
What are you saving up for? A laptop? A new iPod? Those awesome new Converse?
Do you think there is any business-y advice you can pass on to me? What has worked to draw in your customers?
Wish me luck!!!  broadwaygirl345

Hello helpful Ally-Katzzers. Recently I have been thinking about making money. Because I don't have much. Anyways. My friend makes these amazing necklaces all by herself, which she sells for five bucks each. At that moment I got an amazingidea for a bracelet design, and all the materials I need. The thing is, I am clueless when it comes to what kind of materials I need.

My idea is to have twisty colored wire (which is being used in my school for art, but I don't know where it comes from), twisty into sort of a fishy shape. Like the pattern they teach you to ice skate with. I'll have teeny beads on that, and at the intervals when it comes together it will be wrapped in string. I know it's hard to visualize, but the pics are cool. Trust me.

So I really need to know what size wire and beads to get, because I can't get thick wire and tiny beads. I also need to know how to put on a clamp. If you don't know, don't help. I need someone who knows this stuff.

Thanks
