What's HOT!!!

I promised a new blog soon right? Well, for this very special blog I am here to give you a book review. I was privileged enough to get an advanced reader copy. In this blog I shall tell you the top ten things that are amazing about this book.

10. You can't judge a book by its cover right? Well, I often find myself judging book covers a lot. So if your book's cover can intrigue me, it's a good sign. This book's cover certainly did! It's very unique my kudos to ..well I don't know the designer's name.

9. Well then, of course we flip the book over to read the back. The back tells you just enough, and spoils nothing. Which honestly, I've been seeing happen..a lot.

8. Summer days are coming to a close. I want to read as much as possible right? Well this book was a quick easy read. I mean that in a good way! A really good way!

7. If you're going to take the time to read a book, you might as well like the people in it correct? In this book there are very relatable to you, and people you know.

6. As I just mentioned there where relatable characters. How about a relatable plot? Well tough friendship problems, people changing over summer, and separated parents I find very relatable don't you?

5. Okay, I just mentioned the plot. What else can I say about it?...Except that its really unique and amazing!

4. It has a moral. Maybe not a one that comes up and slaps you in the face, but a moral. Don't lie to your friends because, who knows what predicament you could get into.

3. It has things you wouldn't really expect to find in an average teen book.

2. It's funny! Simple as that.

1. So I mentioned earlier it's not your average teen book,& it may not have your usual OMG there's a burglar in the house suspense, but it has suspense. Seriously, the book was filled w/ moments that you had to know what happened!

So what do you think are you going to pick up MFBIBTY once it hits shelves?

Have you read anything else by Kristina Springer?

My Fake Boyfriend is Better than Yours hits shelves August 31st. I would totally recommend it. Hope you gals had/are having a great summer!

~JoLey

I was very fortunate to get to review Halo by Alexandra Adornetto before the publishing.

The only thing I feel I should warn about is the deeply Christian mythology. As a Jew, I felt uncomfortable. If this isn't something you'd like to be reading, don't read it. Otherwise, you should enter with a free mind.

Here are my top ten favorite things about it:

The details. The writing was beautiful and absorbing. The details weren't all consuming and they didn't override the story (that would be purple prose) but I felt like I was there are the same time. The romance. It was sweet and quiet, and while the main character was infatuated from the start, their relationship grew at a realistic pace. The mythology. While a lot of it is based on Christian angels, it was still fascinating. The characters. They were fresh and realistic. Funny and flat, great, varied characters. I loved it. The storyline. It made sense. I loved the story, and can't wait for the sequel. The end. If there's one thing I love, it's a tear-jerker. I won't tell you anything, but the end had me crying. The idea in general. I like the point of view of the mythological creature instead of the mortal in a mortal/mythological relationship. Bella's a human, Raven's a human, Grace's a human (sort of. I really don't know), blah, bored already! It was new. I learned from it. If you have religious Christian parents, its all the basics you already know. But I'm Jewish. Have been. Since I was born. It was nice for me to learn about a religion I'm surrounded by, but have no idea about. The messages. As usual, good will drive out the darkness. I can't say anything else. THE LOGIC! A lot of the time, I find fantasy stories dropping off and not explaining things. The author tidied up everything they created to make it fit.

I would recommend for 12 or 13+.

Hadley here to tell you about a VERY GOOD BOOK I read over the summer. It's called Radiance by Alyson Noel. This book will be coming out in September 2010. It is about a twelve-year-old girl named Riley Bloom who lives in the world of Here above the earth plane. Each ghost gets a job. She has been titled "Sould Catcher" and her first task is to give the Radiant Boy or should I say boys an extra "push" over the bridge. But when she meets her guide, Bodhi, she isn't too impressed. But that's just the jist of the story.

In this book I really liked...

1. How the author makes this character, Riley, seem like a REAL twelve-year-old. With myself being twelve I really can connect to her and she truely seems like she has the problems, wants, and the style of a girl my age.

2. The comebacks. I think the comebacks and remarks in this book are funny, clever, and definetly something a tween would say depending on who the person she is talking to is.

3. The story line. It just is unique and I have never read anything like it before. The way the author creates her own "Heaven" and the way it works.

4. The wording. I like how there are some nice word choices here and there making it enjoyable for advanced readers but she uses them so if you didn't know what they meant you could still understand it. That benefits younger readers as well.

5. How it grabs you. The story captures me in the first chapter. It is a few lines long but is very powerfull. It's job is to capture you so you want to continue on with the journey by reading.

6. How it puts you in the book. I was reading a chapter or two in my room. Normally when the phone rings, no matter what, I jump to it and pick it up. I was so into the story that I didn't even hear it ring. After, my parents asked me "Why didn't you jump for the phone?".

7. The chapter size. Some are short, some are long, and some are just right. This allows me to say "Okay, I'll read one chapter now, and another later!".

8. The names of the characters. In the beginning, cheerleader girl says the speaker is Perseus. With my being Greek, I know he is a Greek demi-god in Greek Myths. Now I still am not sure if that was meant to be the same person but I like how she used that name. I also like Bodhi's name.

9. The book size. This book can be a quick read. No doubt it's something I'd like to read again.

10. The whole thing overall. I must admit there is not one thing I don't like about this book. I just listed it all the pros and there are no cons. I would rate it FIVE STARS if I was a critic. And I guess I am. Now I have something to look forward to, the second book coming out in Spring 2011. Give this book a chance if you are able to your hands on it in September.

Be like amermaid,

~Hadley!

I just read an amazing boom titled 'My Fake Boyfriend is Better Than Yours' by Kristina Springer :)

There was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many things I ahbsolutely loved about the book, but here's 5 (:

1. I could totally relate to the main character, best-friend wise (:

2. It was perfectly detailed (:

3. I totally loved how no matter what the main character did, her problem either got TOTALLY worse, or barely better. It was humorus (:

4. All the popular girls reminded me of the girls at my school, and it sorta told me, you just have to be yourself and that you dont HAVE to be popular (:

5. I loved how the main character was so nonchalant around her best friend (:

You HAVE to read this book! It was amazing and it was truly funny (:

Good morning, my fellow Reporters & lovely girls of Allykatzz!

A few days ago I had the immense pleasure of interviewing the amazing author, Angie Frazier.

Recently, Mrs. Frazier has written her first book, Everlasting, & the book intrigued me so much I had to ask her for an interview!

Mrs. Frazier graciously accepted & I asked her twelve questions about her, her writing & her inspiration. I had so much fun! She was funny, & made me smile & laugh a lot. Mrs. Frazier is definitely what I would want to be like when I become an author. (; I really enjoyed her answers, they were awesome, so I hope YOU love this interview just as much as I do!!

1. Your book,  Everlasting,  is an alluring story about a young adult girl, Camille. Is her character based on anyone you know? Camille is definitely her own person. I don’t know anyone quite like her, but I think if I did, I’d want to be her friend!

2. When did you first discover your love for writing? I must have been six or seven, or however old I was when I learned to write. I loved to write stories, and even drew pictures to go along with them. However, I soon discovered art was not my strength! Words were, though, so I kept at it.

3. Is there a message in your book that you want readers to get? Honestly, I don’t want to tell my readers what message to find within the story. I want them to discover it for themselves, even if it’s not the one I had in mind when I wrote it. Everyone experiences a book in a different way—and every way is the right way.

4. If you had to do it all over, is there anything you would like to change in your book? Yes! Just about every single sentence! I’m proud of my book, but the perfectionist writer in me will not rest, even when a book is in print. I just know that I have to move on to the next project.

5. Are you planning on a sequel to  Everlasting? Absolutely! It’s due to release in June 2011. The title and cover will be unveiled in the fall. I am so excited about this next book!

6. Everlasting has everything: romance, adventure, secrets, magic. Which authors are your main source of inspiration or who inspired you? So many authors! I love honest romance, where the girl doesn’t obsess or cling to a boy out of need. Jane Austen was a big inspiration for that. But I also like a little bit of tragedy, too, so Edith Wharton and Shakespeare inspired me there. I also adore Sarah MacLean, MM Kaye, Suzanne Collins, Cassandra Clare, Natalie Babbitt.

7. I wish that adventure like that could happen every day! If you could, would you jump into your book & live Camille's life? If I could jump in and out of my books whenever I wanted, I would be in heaven! I don’t think I could handle Camille’s life full time, but a visit here and there would be awesome! Especially if I got to jump into Everlasting’s chapter 12 (*waggles eyebrows deviously*)

8. You have a book called  The Midnight Tunnel: A Suzanna Snow Mystery coming out next year. Is this book written in the same style as  Everlasting, or did you make a big change in your writing? It’s a big change! It’s in first person instead of third person, and the narrator is an 11-year-old girl. More than anything else in the world, Zanna wants to be a detective just like her famous uncle, Detective Bruce Snow. Zanna’s voice is completely different from Camille’s, and was actually much easier to write! I really connected with her.

9. I know that I will be reading  The Midnight Tunnel for sure, I am addicted to mysteries! Is Suzanna's character based on you? Suzanna seems very different from Camille to me & I wanted to know if your inspiration came from a different place. Zanna is definitely more like me than Camille. I loved mysteries as a kid (still do!), and just writing in first person brought me so much closer to Zanna than I ever felt to Camille. I don’t think I could ever base a character on myself—I feel I’m way too boring for that!—but Zanna does have my longing for adventure and mystery.

10. Will you be writing a sequel to The Midnight Tunnel, or making it into a series? I’m nearly finished with the second Suzanna Snow mystery (releasing in 2012), and I am very hopeful it will become a short series. I don’t want to have the books go on and on forever…perhaps four or five in all. But I’m having too much fun with Zanna to say goodbye to her right now!

11. If you could have lunch with the characters from your books, what would you tell them? I would ask them to please be less complex because really, they can be tough to figure out! I’d tell Camille to open up more and not hide her feelings so much; I’d tell Oscar he has really nice muscles; I’d tell Ira he shouldn’t gamble; and I’d tell Zanna to keep dreaming big!

12. Would you like your books to be made into movies? If so, who would you consider to be your dream cast? Well just about everyone I’ve fantasized about this with says that Alex Pettyfer would be the ideal Oscar (and I heartily agree!), and that Lucy Hale would be a lovely Camille. If Zanna were to ever be cast, I would just hope there was a young actress out there who looks exactly like the girl on the cover (which will be revealed this fall too!).

Well, this interview has been wonderful, I really loved asking you these questions!  ;) Thank YOU Sarah, these were great questions!

Well, girls, what did you think? This was my very first interview, & my wish was that it would be with an author, & here we are!! I really like Mrs. Frazier, & I hope we can remain contact. (;

I guess there isn't a better way to say this, but I think I'm going to have to say goodbye to allykatzz. I just started college [W00t W00t] and from the first two days of intense lectures, I've realized that I won't be able to keep up with anything else. Life will just be too hectic for me. I want to make sure I let you guys know because you guys are just like my family - my sisters! I wouldn't want anyone to think that I've forgotten about allykatzz or have been pushed off the edge of the earth [the earth's round..i forget that..lol].

I remember the first day I joined allykatzz - err Call4Ally. It was a very new experience because it was the first time I joined a chatting site. I remember within minutes I was a part of the sisterhood. I began to feel welcomed by all the girls and felt that I should return the favor to the other new girls. I think that's how my screenname got out there, I was the girl who kinda welcomed new buds and that way I made a bunch of new buddies everyday!

So much has happened on here since March 2006. Through C4A/AK I've met awesome people; a musician like Jamie Lynn Noon, who is fantabulous, cartoonist like Allison [whose last name I do not know..sry] who wrote Pre-Teena, a comic about an average preteen girl, a writer like Deborah Reber, whose writing is very inspirational, and girls who make a difference in the world like One is Greater Than None. Last, but definitely not least Denise [and the crowd goes wild!]. Thank you, Denise for envisioning and executing such an awesomer site for young girls. It did start off as a travel blog, but has evolved so much and it was all possible because of your ambitions. Thanks so much, I can honestly say that I'm a very different girl because of Call4Ally/Allykatzz. Before, I was your average rosebud, but c4a/ak helped me blossom into a flower and I'll never forget that.

Since March 2006, I've been a kat and I guess my journey kinda slows down from here. I'll still ocassionally log on to check on you guys, but not as often as I would like. Who knows, once I get used to college I might try to become a member of Ally's Gang. That would be uber awesome.

I'm sorry if I missed anything. Four years is a long time and my four paragraphs do no justice to all the great times that I've had on this site. Please don't hesitate in sending me backatchas or shout outs because I promise I'll respond..maybe not quick enough, but I still want to stay connected with my buddies on here! Keep me updated on anything totally awesomer and if you need any type of adice on anything - I'm your gal. I guess it's time I graduate, right?

Luv you guys, from a teary-eyed...Tiger Eyes ♥

My god, I have to find a way to get these gorgeous new iPods from heaven! I will definitely save up big time for the new iPod Shuffle, Nano or Touch, they are so darn cute! (;

Source: jsyk.com

Apple made another big announcement today, introducing three newiPodsfor the masses and an iTunes social network called Ping. There are a ton of new features on the iPods, which may even make you forget about wanting aniPhone 4.

The
iPod Touchis thinner and lighter than ever, and while it still plays all of your favorite music, it also can make FaceTime video calls and record HD video. As long as you have Wi-Fi, you can video chat with your friends just like on the iPhone 4. The device also has that sweet Retina display and Game Center, where you can challenge your friends and show all your scores and stats.

TheiPod Nanohas Multi-Touch, is newly redesigned and is smaller and lighter than the last generation. It's got a built-in FM radio and also has a built-in clip so you can wear it on the go. The newiPod Shufflehas clickable "ring" buttons VoiceOver technology, which allows users to go through their playlists without having to look at the device. Sweet! It also comes in fun colors like silver, blue, green, orange and pink, and even supports Genius playlists (finally).

Oh but that's not all. Apple also announced an iTunes update that will include
Ping, a new social network for music. If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone, you can follow your friends to find out what they're listening to and follow your favorite artists to see photos, videos, tour dates and more. Apple CEO Steve JobsdescribesPing as "Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes."

The iPod Touch starts at $229, the Nano starts at $149 and the Shuffle is priced at $49. All of them will be available beginning next week, and those who are into Ping can download the iTunes update now. What do you think of the new generation of iPods? Do you think you'll use Ping or are you good on the social networking front?
Lol, i feel terrible but that is another original article. :P To see more of the darling new wonders of technology, head here:http://www.jsyk.com/photos/meet-apples-n ew-ipods/   My opinion:   Okay, so the whole thing is pretty AWESOME. Plus, Ping is definitely what I would call an iTunes Twitter. I have found that I like Twitter a lot, but as said before, I quite. Anywho. I would totally purchase the new iPods etc, & get Ping, BUT iPads are pretty delish to me, & the selling point for me is: on an iPad, you can read books. 'Nuff said. But anyway, since where I live you get an iPad for, like, $700, then the Nano & Shuffle sounds pretty good to me. (: Of course I still heart the iPhones, (Hello, B-Bot! :D) but the Touches are amazing too. Really, if I was in a store that had these eye-catching lovelies, I would start freaking out & asking if I could eternal servitude in return for those iPods. LOL! Not really. But anyway. What do you think? Are they fabulous, or not so much? Would YOU use Ping? Tell all. :P   Sarah [[♥♥♥]]

Hello girls! So September 1,2010 is Best Bones Forever's 1st birthday!I thought I could share some information about this wonderful site to you since it is all about girls and how inportant it is do tak care of your body!

So what is Best Bones Forever all about?

The Best Bones Forever!™ Campaign encourages girls to get active and eat more foods with calcium and vitamin D. Why is this important? Because getting lots of physical activity and snacking on foods with calcium and vitamin D arewhat's best for your bones! Healthy bones are important to help you grow strong and stay strong forever!

Interesting Facts About Our Body:

There are more than 200 bones in our body!Wow thats a ton to take care of!

Our bones are made of Collagen andCalcium phosphate

Bones also contain water, minerals, and cells that grow and change

When you're a baby, you have more than 300 bones, but by the time you're an adult you'll only have 206

2 Reasons Why You Need Calcium:

Calcium makes bones as strong as steel!

When your body makes new bone tissue, it first lays down a framework ofcollagen. Then, tiny crystals of calcium from your blood spread throughout the collagen framework. The hard crystals fill in all the nooks and crannies. Calcium and collagen work together to make bones strong and flexible.

Too little calcium makes bones weak.

Your body needs calcium to do lots of things. Calcium helps your muscles work so you can throw a softball. It helps send out nerve impulses. If you touch something hot, for instance, your brain quickly gets and sends the message to say, "Ouch!" and move your hand away. Calcium also helps your body heal from cuts and scrapes.

Every cell in your body needs calcium. Your bones store calcium for your blood and cells. If your body doesn't get enough calcium, which can be found in some foods and drinks, it takes it from your bones. And that can make your bones weak. From the day you're born, your bones are built and strengthened with calcium. In fact, when you're in your 20s, your bones will be their strongest ever.

Bone Vocab:

Calcium —a mineral that helps to form bones and keeps them hard and strong. Most of the calcium in the body is stored in bones and teeth. The remaining calcium is contained in body tissues, blood, and other body fluids. Calcium can be found in somefoods and drinks.

Bone-strengthening activity —any activity that produces a force on the bones and promotes bone growth and strength. This force is produced most often by impact on the ground in activities like running and jumping.

Bone density —also known as "bone mineral density," the degree of strength of the inside of the bones

So Girls what do you think?Do you take good care of your bones to keep your body strong and fit?Is any of this stuff new to you?Have you learned about this in school?Have you ever heard of this site?Do you think it is important to take care of your bones? Can you name every bone in your body with no help?I love to hear what you have to say after all thats what AK is for!

Don't forget to check out the awesome site!

www.bestbonesforever.gov

After checking it out I have some really great questions for you!

What did you learn from the site? What was your favorite part of it?Is there anything you think they should add to the site? What do you think of the logo? How would you rate it on a scale of 1-10?Comment and let me know!
